Professional Duty of Confidentiality

As professional Realtors, we are committed to holding our Clients personal information in strict confidence, and we shall not disclose any such information unless authorized by our clients, required by law to do so or required to do so in conducting negotiations with third parties.

Protecting Your Privacy Means:

  • We keep your information, your employee information and the business you do with us in strict confidence.
  • Your information is not sold.
  • You have control over how we obtain, use and give out information about you.
  • You have access to the information we have about you.
  • We respect your privacy when we market our products and services.

 

Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

To meet your needs and serve you well, we need to know some personal information about you.  We may collect, use and disclose personal information from you and about you for the following purposes:

a.   To understand your needs.

b.   To analyze the suitability of our real estate services for you.

c.   To determine your eligibility for our products and services.

d.   To set up, manage and offer products and services that meet your needs.

e.   To effectively market and sell the property of sellers; to locate, assess and qualify properties for buyers and to otherwise provide real estate services to you.

f.   To share with our Real Estate Board(s) and RECO (Real Estate Council of Ontario).

g.   To share with third parties to assist in the marketing through internet applications, mortgage financing, insurance, warranties, surveys, commission advances for our Realtors, franchise requirements, appointed lawyers.

h.   To meet our legal and regulatory requirements, which may entail sharing your information with the courts or police, upon request.

i.   To send you, our client, newsletters, calendars and invitations to our events.  

Your Information is Obtained or Used Only With Your Consent

 

Your consent for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information is obtained when you sign Listing Agreement or our Buyer Agency Agreement.  

You Can Withdraw Your Consent

You may withdraw your consent to allow us to collect, use and disclose your personal information.  You should know that if you refuse or withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide or continue to provide you with some products, services or information valuable to you. 

We Limit Collection and Retention of Your Information

We keep your information to offer you products and services when you are a customer, and for a reasonable period afterwards, or to meet our legal requirements.  We also must maintain transaction records for a minimum of seven years as required by law. 

You Can Check the Accuracy of Your Information

You can check your information to verify, update and correct it, and to have any obsolete information removed.  We will ask you to put your request in writing. 

We Protect Your Information From Error, Loss and Unauthorized Access

This office is a member of CREA (The Canadian Real Estate Association).  We fully adhere to the principles set out in the CREA Privacy Code.  All our Realtors and staff members associated with our company must sign an acknowledgement form that they will comply with the requirements of the Code. We actively maintain security systems, electronic and otherwise to safeguard your personal information. 

Questions or Concerns

Questions or concerns about personal information held by us can be answered by our Privacy Officer, who can be reached at 519.649.4600.  However, if you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy related inquiry or complaint, you may contact the Privacy Commissioner.

A copy of this Privacy Policy (and any future updates) can be obtained by calling our Privacy Officer, or by accessing our website (www.pelicangmac.com).  When you call us, we may confirm your identity by asking you to confirm certain personal information, and you may be directed to send us certain requests in writing.

We do not sell or otherwise market your personal information to third parties.
